Parents' groups in Britain have condemned an internet game in which girls as young as nine are encouraged to "buy" virtual dolls breast operations and facelifts. The aim of the Miss Bimbo game, which was launched in Britain last month, is to become the "hottest, coolest, most famous bimbo in the whole world", and contestants who compete are told to "stop at nothing", even "meds or plastic surgery", to ensure their dolls win. Children are given a naked virtual character to look after. They compete against other players to earn "bimbo" dollars so they can dress her in sexy outfits and take her clubbing. They are given missions, including securing plastic surgery at the game's clinic to give their dolls bigger breasts, and to keep her at her target weight with diet pills. Bill Hibberd, of the parents' rights group Parentkind, said the game gave young girls a dangerous message. It depends on the background and mindset of the child but the danger is that after playing the game, some will then aspire to have breast operations and take diet pills.

The scene in which she jogs down a beach, plaited hair flying and then sun behind her emphasising a fantastic figure remains a cinematic definition of untouchable desirability. Derek is now 52 and still extraordinarily beautiful. Does it seem like 30 years since 10? It was hilarious. I had no idea the film was going to be so huge. Refusing to be pupeteered like so many starlets, post Derek took to producing her own pictures, most notably sex comedy Bolero and jungle-jaunt Tarzan, The Ape Man. She does have one regret: that having typecast herself as a bimbo, she never got the chance to act in a British costume drama. If anyone from the BBC is reading this, please sign me up!
