When we first moved to Indonesia, one of the biggest culture shock obstacles I had to overcome was the Indonesian bathroom. When it comes to bathing, some bathrooms will have nothing more than a wall spigot, a bucket, and a scooper. You just fill up the bucket and dump water on yourself using the little plastic scooper. The toilets are equally diverse. They range from literal holes in the ground to squat toilets to Western-style toilets that are used as squat toilets complete with footprints on the seat! The first thing you might notice when you visit an Indonesian restroom is the lack of toilet paper. The concept is pretty straight-forward Read more. Initially, the idea of forgoing toilet paper and embracing the butt hose made me cringe. When we visit countries that use toilet paper, I feel gross and dirty.

Download the full report in English. Appendix 1: Mandatory Jilbab Regulations in Indonesia. Appendix 3: A Letter to the Indonesian Government. Over the past two decades, women and girls in Indonesia have faced unprecedented legal and social demands to wear clothing deemed Islamic as part of broader efforts to impose the rules of Sharia, or Islamic law, in many parts of the country. These pressures have increased substantially in recent years. In , the Indonesian government issued a national regulation on school dress that has been widely interpreted to require female Muslim students to wear a jilbab as part of their school uniform. Prior to and since this regulation, many provincial and local governments in Indonesia have adopted several hundred Sharia-inspired regulations, many of which are targeted at women and girls, including their dress. Many Muslim women and girls also wear long-sleeve shirts and long dresses. This report focuses on the discriminatory regulations and related social pressures on women and girls to wear the jilbab or hijab in schools, within the civil service, and at government offices. Women, girls, and family members from around Indonesia described to Human Rights Watch the impact of discriminatory dress regulations in these and other spheres, from evening curfews to riding on motorcycles.
Regional slang from the capital is however heavily exposed and promoted in national media, and considered the de facto Indonesian slang. Despite its direct origins, Indonesian slang often differs quite significantly in both vocabulary and grammatical structure from the most standard form of Indonesia's national language. These expressions are neither standardized nor taught in any formal establishments, but rather function in daily discourse, usually in informal settings. Indonesian speakers regularly mix several regional slangs in their conversations regardless of origin, but depending on the audience and the familiarity level with the listeners. Its native name, bahasa gaul the 'social language' , was a term coined in the late s where bahasa means 'language' and gaul means 'social', 'cool' or 'trendy'. Indonesian slang is predominantly used in everyday conversation, social milieus, among popular media and, to a certain extent, in teen publications or pop culture magazines.
Know there are a lot of Doctors who cheat though. All these post confirming how doctors cheat all the time on their spouse kills me and my hope in a future with him. I also remember my father a stake president telling me the night before I got married that every single couple he had counseled through marriage struggles were not reading their scriptures or praying together every night. If you marry for a paycheck and a lifestyle, you are nothing but a gold digger and therefore won't MIND if your husband has a mistress on the side. We also do not allow harassment of those who post about being victims of rape, or who state that they are contemplating suicide. I get it; I just don't buy into it. She will want her kids blessed, baptized, taking temple trips to baptize for the dead, hold the priesthood, a bishop will ask you sons and daughters if they masterbate and punish them if they do, etc. No sex before marriage. I felt her fear, everything she's said, I said. Know there are a lot of Doctors who cheat though.
